Incivility has been found nearly everywhere – social media, airplanes, concerts, and other public spaces. The workplace should be immune to incivility, but, unfortunately, it was found that about 1 in 4 employees have experienced behavior that is rude, disrespectful, or aggressive, according to a MeQuilibrium survey. Ethisphere’s 2023 ethical culture report saw workplace bullying has jumped from 20.1% to 33%.
In August, we recognize how important civil behavior is in our communities while celebrating National Civility Month. First established by the International Institute for Civil Leadership in 2014, it is “a way to spread awareness about the need for good manners, respect, and consideration for others.”
