Professional Development: Niche Academy

Resource Overview

Niche Academy was created by library professionals for librarians and their patrons. This database provides training focused in the library profession and learning skill specific to the profession.

Niche Academy is unique in that it doesn't require a login for users. A user can certainly create one which would allow them to save their progress no matter the computer they are on but if they choose not to the original computer will save their progress as long as the cookies on the machine have not been cleared out.

All of these courses are self-paced and some even come with a completion certificate. Courses are set up in a variety of ways that can be multi-lesson, just a video stating what the information is, or a link to an outside resource.

The best part about this database is that the North Dakota State Library controls what courses are put up. If there is an area that you would like to learn more about that isn't represented, contact the State Library at (701) 328-4622 or ndsltrain@nd.gov.
