This is one of NDSL’s Lakeshore Learning STEAM Kits. These kits boost critical thinking skills by bringing hands-on learning to young children. They are geared for 2nd and 3rd graders, but with adult interaction, they can fit children even younger. This kit is unique in that no story cards accompany the 60 blocks for building different castles. An instruction sheet accompanies the kit showing possible castle designs and the significance behind castle structures. We have included a National Geographic nonfiction book entitled Everything Castles, along with a list of Resources and Lesson Extensions. Children are encouraged to write a story or become a storyteller by talking about their castle. The 8 storytelling wands can be used in telling their story.
