LEGO Braille Bricks are 3 dimensional bricks with braille dots and printed letters or numbers designed to teach people how to read braille. A variety of number and letter bricks, along with mathematical operation symbols (plus sign, subtraction sign, etc.) and punctuation bricks (upper case, comma, period, etc.) are placed on the base plates to spell words and create mathematical problems. There are multiple copies of the braille letters, with more copies of common vowels and fewer copies of lesser common consonants, similar to a set of Scrabble tiles.
This kit requires no special technology or apps, but Internet access would be needed to access the lesson plans and activities found below in the Online Resources tab.
300 assorted LEGO braille bricks with letters, numbers, punctuation and mathematical operations, 1 orange brick separator, 3 gray base plates, 6 laminated activity sheets, 1 insert showing pictures of the bricks to assist learning, 1 folder.
Funded by the LEGO Foundation, which provides Braille Brick toolkits, free of charge, to select institutions, schools and services catering to the education of blind and visually impaired children.
