Citizen Archivist: ND State Library Projects

The North Dakota State Library needs you! Help us improve our digital collections by making them more accessible and searchable. There are several "Citizen Archivist" projects that need virtual volunteers. Click on the projects list below for additional information.

We need your help to (projects listed in order of importance):

A little more about these virtual volunteer projects:

  • Anyone can contribute
  • Work can be done remotely from the comfort of your home
  • Work can be done at your own pace
  • Experience with Microsoft Word or Google Docs is preferred but not required

If you are interested in volunteering for any of these projects or if you have any questions, please contact Digital Initiatives.

Another way you can help is by donating materials to the ND State Library for inclusion in its digital collections. Digital Initiatives only collects digital copies of materials, so you do not have to donate your physical items from your private collections (like photographs, letters, etc.).

Help build, share, and preserve North Dakota history! Consult the Donations page to learn more.

National Projects

There are also national projects that need volunteers. Learn more about them at the links below.
